Three local singers, one playroom
Maeve, Lena and Eva are certified Music Together teachers who each bring their own warmth and playfulness to a developmentally appropriate classroom.
Maeve Iredale
Maeve Iredale is a mother, musician, composer, choir director, dancer, and music teacher based on Salt Spring Island, BC. She's passionate about creating joyful, playful spaces where everyone can sing, dance, and connect without the pressure to "get it right." She believes singing and dancing are every person's birthright, and that children immersed in a rich musical environment naturally grow up musical, so her teaching values play over practice, curiosity over perfection.
Inspired by the Music Together classes she attended with her own children, led by the late, local musical powerhouse Marta McKeever, Maeve founded Music Together Salt Spring in fall 2024, honoured to carry forward the joy and connection Marta's classes gave her community.
Maeve holds a diploma in Jazz Studies from the Victoria Conservatory of Music, is a trained Somatic Voicework coach, a certified Music Together teacher, and directs both The Salt Spring Village Choir and Music Together Salt Spring. She's dedicated to helping people of every age rediscover the joy and belonging music can bring.
Lena Mckenzie
Lena McKenzie is a classically trained singer, pianist, and music educator. Originally from the Philippines, she began performing professionally at the age of fourteen, appearing on television, in films, and in musical theatre. Since then, she has performed from New York to New Zealand in venues ranging from sports arenas to cruise ships, including performances for former Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and former Philippine President Benigno Aquino III. Today, her favourite audiences are small groups of toddlers, whose joy and uninhibited love of music make every class a delight.
Lena is a licensed Music Together teacher and holds a Bachelor of Music degree, summa cum laude, from the University of the Philippines. She also completed additional training at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City. She lives on Salt Spring Island with her husband and daughter.
Eva Smith
Eva has been teaching Music Together for about 2 years in Victoria, and now that she has moved to Salt Spring Island she is so excited to be teaching classes here!
Eva holds a degree in Music Education from the University of Victoria, and in addition to teaching with Music Together she is also a choir director, voice teacher, and composer; basically, she loves all things music.
